While the Surf Shell provides added protection, it is not the same level of protection as a 'full-spec' surf helmet.
Intended for light or busy surf conditions to help protect from bumps and gashes. Not intended for use in extreme surf or big wave conditions.
For best performance, ensure the sweatband is fitted snugly over the shell and toggle tightened appropriately.

Is it a helmet?
It’s a reinforced surf hat designed to provide lightweight head protection without the bulk of a traditional helmet.
Will it stay on in big waves?
It’s designed to stay secure through wipeouts and duck diving in small to medium size surf conditions. We do not recommend SurfShell for heavy or extreme conditions.
Can I wear it all session?
Absolutely! It’s lightweight and breathable for long sessions.
Do I need this if I’m a beginner?
This is actually when it’s most helpful, it gives extra confidence while you’re learning where to position in the line up.
Does it have a hard brim?
Yes! Made with a reinforced front brim to prevent from it flopping in-front of your face.

"The inside padding was missing a strip, but I was able to cut a replacement from similar material and it glued right into place. Been out 3-4 times and it's held up fine. That aside, the hat itself is really comfortable and looks well-made. Love the hardened section in the front that keeps the slap out of your face. The helmet is so light you barely notice it's there. Definitely just for minor bumps and peace of mind, but does the job."

"Super comfortable! Love it! but not suited for falling off bigger waves. The stiffened front part of the hat prevents it from flapping into your face, but also pushes the hat down the neck in bigger waves. Would probably need straps with a wider base for it."
