While the Surf Shell provides added protection, it is not the same level of protection as a 'full-spec' surf helmet.
Intended for light or busy surf conditions to help protect from bumps and gashes. Not intended for use in extreme surf or big wave conditions.
For best performance, ensure the sweatband is fitted snugly over the shell and toggle tightened appropriately.

Measure around your head to get the best fit. If you are between sizes we recommend going with the bigger size and adjusting with the toggle. Sizing recently updated on feedback given.

Is it a helmet?
It’s a reinforced surf hat designed to provide lightweight head protection without the bulk of a traditional helmet.
Will it stay on in big waves?
It’s designed to stay secure through wipeouts and duck diving in small to medium size surf conditions. We do not recommend SurfShell for heavy or extreme conditions.
Can I wear it all session?
Absolutely! It’s lightweight and breathable for long sessions.
Do I need this if I’m a beginner?
This is actually when it’s most helpful, it gives extra confidence while you’re learning where to position in the line up.
Does it have a hard brim?
Yes! Made with a reinforced front brim to prevent from it flopping in-front of your face.

"Sorry to say , not happy with the purchase. I have a big head. I bought the hat because the specs said the Large sized up to 62/63 cm. Unfortunately it doesn’t, so it’s too small for me. Plus the shell came with all the rubber inserts falling off not sticking to the shell. Not worth 80 bucks for sure."

"In Japan, almost no one wears a helmet while surfing. I do use a GATH in dangerous spots, but it really stands out. SurfShell is very useful because it protects my head without drawing attention. I was worried that having a built-in helmet might make me look bulky, but when I actually put it on, it fits neatly. It doesn’t make me look big at all."

"Comfortable Not hit my head so can't comment on bump performance but it's probably adequate. But not high performance like a cycle helmet (which is only good for one impact). The brim keeps it shape The ear part of the chin strap could do with finishing lower because the mesh doesn't really sit right. But it's not a deal breaker I'd get another one"
